2018 Dairy Ambassador Visit

2018 Dairy Ambassador Visit

The Cow Lady (a.k.a. Renee Ebert) continues the mission of educating our future food producers with a big smile! Pictured are the first graders at Algoma Elementary from the classes of Mrs. Lebotte, Mrs. Herman & Mrs. Clarke. Mrs. Ebert shared materials offered by the Milk Marketing Board, which was recently rebranded as Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin. The materials include the book, “My Field Trip to a Wisconsin Dairy Farm". The book talks about all aspects of agriculture, not just dairy, and the five food groups. The class made kebabs (grapes, strawberries, two cheeses, cucumbers & a wheat pita bread) and sandwiches with, turkey & ham. It looks like they had a great time together!...

2018 Dairy Ambassador’s School Visits

Meet Renee Ebert, loving known as “The Cow Lady” Renee is one of our volunteer dairy ambassadors who visit local schools to talk about dairy farming. Pictured is her visit to the 3k class at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Algoma. Renee explained her teaching materials are designed for Kindergarten to 4th grade, so she came up with her own material for preschoolers. The kids were allowed to dress in animal costumes & they sang “Old McDonald Had A Farm.” She fills her large milk carton with things from the farm, like a cow, horse & pig. She talks about the food they eat & how different it is from what people eat. Renee leads a conversation about machinery like the tractor, planter, chopper, & skid steer. Then talk about field work, planting & harvesting crops for the animals. And in return, cows give us milk. She shows a milk truck that hauls milk to a cheese plant & talks about milk being...

Family Farm History – 2017 Hosts: Wallace Dairy Farm

Each year Kewaunee County Breakfast on the Farm is hosted by a different family farm – learn more about our 2017 host farm’s history! You can find Wallace Dairy Farm, LLC on Facebook! Wallace Family Dairy: Our Story Paul Wallace, Jr. is a 4th generation dairy farmer – born and raised on a dairy farm, he has always enjoyed working with cattle and being on the farm. FAMILY FARM HISTORY   The original Wallace Homestead, located in Darboy, began in 1856. Paul’s father (Paul, Sr.), the 3rd of 9 children, was raised there. After working 3-4 years out of high school, he then purchased a small dairy farm in Forest Junction (Brillion area) and operated it while working at the local paper mill. In 1978, when Paul, Jr. was 5 years old, the family relocated to the present-day farm. Together Paul Jr., his father (Paul, Sr.), mother (Cathy), and sister (Kim) operated the dairy farm. With the closest relatives over an hour away, the family depended on...
