2018 Kickoff Breakfast – June Dairy Month

Kewaunee County Dairy Promotion Committee honors a community member each year with a Volunteer Recognition & Appreciation Award. The 2018 recipient is the late John T. Pagel for his contributions to the dairy industry throughout his life. His children accepted the award on his behalf.

2018 Dairy Ambassadors Visit Luxemburg-Casco Schools
Dairy Ambassador visit St. Paul Lutheran Church and School and Luxemburg- Casco schools in April and May to spread their dairy cheer!
3rd-8th graders were visited by FFA members, Kim Van Donsel & Gabrielle Haen. Kim & Gabrielle shared how FFA has impacted their personal and academic lives. They also discussed the varied interests, scholarships, and networking opportunities that FFA offers, ending the visit with a fun training of sheep judging. Their treats included string cheese, a glass of chocolate milk, & a sub sandwich, which represents all forms of agriculture. A Special thank you to Kim & Gabrielle for sharing their experience with our youth!
The 4K class was visited by Catrina Thiry, who read the book “A Fairy in the Dairy”. The kids developed their own ice cream flavor & gave it a creative name. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a traditional ice cream sundae with a cherry on top.

2018 More Dairy Ambassador Visits
Renee Ebert recently visited Algoma’s classrooms where the 2nd graders read the story “Curd Science, The Incredible Journey From Milk to Curd” and had cheese whips for a snack. The 4th graders had a Smart Board video and snacked on a variety of cheese sampling. The 3rd grade classrooms took a field trip to Ebert Enterprises on June 1st and celebrated National Milk Day with a milk toast. They toured the farm and saw the maternity area, the milking parlor, and the calf area where they were able to feed the calves.
